May 2014 - Risky Business!


 Began the session in the classroom as the guys got to grips with identifying, recording and managing risk, which they all handled really well. was glorious and there was plenty of time left to get out onto the lake armed with pellet and corn. April 2014 - First Coarse Fish for Eden!


Our first session with young Eden. Eden certainly has a fishermans patience, waiting months for the weather to improve since he was given WAC coaching vouchers as a Christmas present! Still it proved to be worth the wait, having only sea fished before Eden spent a few hours with the whip rod catching his first ever coarse fish with roach & perch before he was deservedly awarded with this tench just as the session drew to a close!...

April 2014 - Coaches Easter Trip


The Easter break gave the coaches a chance to get out on a social, the weather was kind, but not as kind as the fish! An incredible 68 carp were caught including 3 braces as the Nash Scopex Squid Red proved too much of a temptation. April 2014 - Keep on moving!


Productive coaching session with Barrie today. Were moving forward with more mobile fishing techniques stalking, surface fishing etc. Today was all about baiting likely spots and keeping mobile to move on to feeding fish. Barrie was soon in amoungst the fish catching good sized Bream and Tench, in our opinion you cant beat this approach on a warm spring day.

March 2014 - Lifelines Challenge Shield - Victory for Barrie


Prior to the Easter Break it was competition time for the Lifelines Challenge Shield.   For this season the lads chose a different format and rules. Competition was made of 3 separate matches on Whip, Waggler and Feeder Rods, just to mix it up a bit more it was also run as a pairs match with each entrant being paired with a coach. February 2014 - PAA Stand at The Big One Fishing Show


WAC Coach, Paul who is also one of the Directors of The Professional Anglers Association, helped out on their stand at The Big One Show. It was a great weekend raising nearly £1,000 for good causes as well as helping out specific groups with donations of much needed fishing tackle.

February 2014 - The Tea Break Poacher!


WAC Coach Dave, is getting a reputation as The Tea Break Poacher!! As the lads retired to the fishing hut for a much needed refreshment, Dave was quickly onto one of the empty seatboxes, armed himself with a 4m elasticated whip, 4lb pole rig, size 16 hook and a single red maggot. The outcome was obvious........20 min fight later...... 23lb 20z Mirror....... Well done sir!! Breaking our whip record by a clear 2lb margin.

February 2014 - First Carp For Miley!


Welcome to Miley who recently joined the course.  In only his second week he managed to land his first ever carp, excellent result!  We have moved over to Nash Bait and at the first use it proved a wise choice with 3 carp landed in just a few hours!

January 2014 - Apsley Lock Fish Rescue


 Schools are back and the Chessbrook Students continue with their work on City & Guilds Qualification for Environmental Awareness. Thanks to the Canals & Rivers Trust, they took part in the Fish Rescue at Apsley Locks. All got involved in taking measurements and weights for the Fish record, Scale sampling, assisting with tutorials to local Primary school Students and even had a brush with fame, being interviewed by Local Press and Radio Stations (photo below).
