June 2015 - Half Way through Sportivate Course


Half way through our 6 week Sportivate Course at Westbrook Mere. This week we were working on building pole rigs with loop and blood knots then off on the bank to put them through their paces. Small Roach and Perch were the order of the day and ensured that all 8 caught.

June 2015 - Lewis has a great first session with KS3


Great afternoon session with our KS3 Students who were joined by Lewis who wanted to come down and try the fishing programme as a one off. Jack was the first out of the blocks with a lovely scaled Carp, Lewis and Anthony on the other hand were struggling after a slight case of overfeeding the swim! So a move was soon undertaken and it was then that Lewis started getting into the fish...a lot of fish! Personal bests tumbled...

June 2015 - Harley pops in to fish with KS4


Well Harley didn't take long to take us up on the offer to return and let us see how things were going...back behind the rods in a week! Anyway, glad to hear that the work experience is going really well, as he joined the others for our Thursday morning session. Harley had the honours of two Carp gracing his net with the others catching plenty of bream and Tench, good stuff!

June 2015 - Week 2 of DAP Sportivate


Week two of our Sportivate Course at Westbrook Mere. Classroom session working on the knots required to use in next weeks pole rig making session then it was out to fish in the sun. Quite a breeze blowing which made bite indication difficult to spot, especially with the delicate Roach bites, but pleased to see that everyone managed to catch.

Jne 2015 - Sunny Afternoon with KS3


A sunny afternoon with our KS3 Group who were also joined by KS4 member Jake who was unable to attend the morning session. Welcome back to Anthony who hasn't been on the course for a few months now. Was a tough afternoons fishing, with the heat takings its toll on the amount of fish who were up for a feed. June 2015 - New 6 week Sportivate Course Commences


Last week saw the first session of our 6 week Sportivate Course in the Dacorum Angling Project. Being held at Boxmoor & District AS Water, Westbrook Mere. A full house for the first session. For 6 of them we will be working towards CAST Level 1 accreditation, plus we have 2 returning from last year who will be undertaking the Level 2 course. May 2015 - Final Session of Half Term


Final session of this half term with our KS4 and KS3 groups, fishing in the sunshine was a nice change! Tench were in a feeding frenzy especially on the boilies where the alarms were sounding all day. On the float rods we were experiencing more takes from the bream picking up corn and chickpea fished just over depth. Enjoy your Break chaps see you in June.

May 2015 - Rickmansworth Canal Festival


A great weekend helping out at the Rickmansworth Canal Festival where Hertfordshire and Middlesex Angling Development had organised fishing taster sessions at West Hampstead Angling Society's lake, Sabeys Pool. We worked with our fellow coaches from the Professional Anglers Association alongside the team from Tring Anglers.
