February 2017 - Students try their hand at water monitoring
A bitterly cold session which severely reduced the practical fishing time but still plenty of activities for the students. As part of their environmental course, we are looking at monitoring ponds and lakes and what fishkeepers / fishery owners can do to protect and manage water quality. Samples were taken and assessed from both the main lake and stock ponds and on their return after half term we will be looking at how to interpret the readings and best practice for maintaining good water quality.
