September 2016 - Hayes Canal Festival

Up at 5am back home just before dark, but still smiling. A good day at the Hayes Canal Festival, we met some great people and enthusiastic new Anglers. With so many activities and people it was always going to be a tough call in terms of numbers of fish caught, but the coaching team rose to the challenge. This was not a numbers game this was about delivering informative 30 minute sessions to spark an interest, impart knowledge and if a fish was caught in the process that was a bonus. Manning the coaching stations was Tony Forman, David Brown, Roger Smith, Del Greening and Alan Colclough who worked with over 50 participants during the event. Along with Paul Forman on the registration desk Michael Heylin set up his pond dipping display, its great to watch the maestro in action, so much information, interesting facts and stories which enthralled many a child and adult alike. Was also great to meet up with our friends and colleagues from both Canal & River Trust Angling and London Waterways Partnership
