October 2015 - Rickmansworth Scouts Bag Up!
On 24th October we were delighted to host the Rickmansworth Scouts competition at Cassiobury Farm and Fishery. The event was laid on by Professional Anglers Association and our PAA Coaches, Paul & Tony were joined by Roger Smith. PAA President, Mike Heylin OBE was in attendance originally to hand out the prizes at the end, but you cant keep a good man down as they say and he was soon getting involved helping out with the coaching! We also had Naidre Werner, PAA Vice Chairman who was also representing the Angling Trades Association. Naidre sorted through the various tackle donations made by NGT Fishing and members of the Angling Trades Association and we soon had an organised set of prizes which made sure that every competitor left with plenty of useful goodies. With 11 Scouts competing and the Scout Leaders also fishing, there was plenty to keep the team busy, but the lake stayed true to form and not only did everyone catch but there were some impressive net weights at the end of the competition especially when you consider that the vast majority of competitors had never fished before. Top 3 weights were Alix with 17lb 11oz, Kavi with 11lb 12oz and Hirushi with 6lb 12oz. Special mention to Scott who caught the largest fish of the day with 19lb 10oz, obviously this would have won the match but as he caught this on a carp rod it could not be included within the whip match weights.
